Marnong Estate Cellar door is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused Part-Time Cellar Door Wine Specialist to join our team. We are looking for a passionate wine individual keen to develop and grow with this young brand. We are looking for longevity and there is room in this role for growth for the right individual.
As a key member of our cellar door team, you will create exceptional wine tasting experiences for our guests while showcasing our award-winning wines and being able to share the unique stories that center around the property, the vineyard, and the winemaking. The ideal candidate will be passionate about wine, hospitality, and providing visitors with a memorable experience in this iconic destination.
Key Responsibilities
Wine Tastings & Sales
- Representing Marnong Estate Wines as a brand ambassador with professionalism, delivering exceptional experiences at the Cellar Door. Sharing an in-depth knowledge about Marnong Estate’s wines, winemaking techniques, and the Sunbury wine region in an engaging and friendly manner.
- Guest Experience & Tasting Guidance: Deliver engaging, informative wine tastings while sharing Marnong Estate’s history and winemaking techniques.
- Sales & Wine Club Promotion: Drive wine sales (by glass, bottle, and takeaway) and actively promote wine club memberships to enhance customer loyalty.
- VIP & Group Experiences: Host tailored wine events for VIPs and group bookings, ensuring memorable and personalized experiences.
- Food & Beverage Service: Maintaining a responsible service of wine by the glass bottle and for tastings alongside preparing and serving cheese platters, charcuterie and other beverages as needed.
- Merchandising & Sales Targets: Maintain attractive product displays and contribute to achieving weekly and monthly sales goals. Cellar Door Operations Assistance with daily operations of the Cellar door.
- Daily Operations & Customer Service: Support Cellar Door and Marnong Estate procedures, including opening/closing,Till management, handling inquiries, and managing bookings.
- Presentation & Cleanliness: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, stock control and organization for a welcoming guest experience.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a secure environment for staff and visitors. REQUIREMENTS
- Wine Knowledge & Passion: Enthusiasm for wine, with hospitality or wine tasting experience preferred.
- Strong Communication: Ability to engage guests, share knowledge, and enhance their overall experience.
- Sales & Customer Engagement: Confident in recommending wines and driving sales through excellent service.
- Organization & Reliability: Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
- Team Player: Collaborative, supportive, and committed to fostering a positive team environment.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and Public Holidays as required.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in a cellar door, winery, or hospitality environment.
- WSET level 2/3 or similar wine qualification.
- Familiarity with the Sunbury wine region (desirable but not essential).
