About Us: Short Grain is a restaurant with a modern Thai flavour, owned and operated by renowned chef Martin Boetz (Formally Long Grain & The Cook’s Shed).
Located in the heart of Fortitude Valley in a beautiful heritage building, Short Grain combines contemporary design and architectural innovations while also providing a state-of-the-art venue in which to work.
Job Description: As a Section Waiter at Short Grain you will be an integral part of our service team, responsible for your own section, ensuring that every guest receives personalised attention and enjoys a seamless dining experience. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Taking responsibility and running your own section.
- Providing detailed explanations of our menu offerings, including specials and beverage selections.
- Assisting guests in making menu choices by offering recommendations and addressing dietary preferences and allergies.
- Taking accurate food and beverage orders and relaying them to the kitchen and bar staff promptly.
- Serving meals and beverages in an elegant and efficient manner, adhering to established presentation standards.
- Anticipating and fulfilling guest needs, ensuring their utmost comfort and satisfaction throughout the meal.
- Managing bill settlements and processing payments accurately.
- Collaborating with fellow team members to maintain a clean and organised dining environment.
- Adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a restaurant is mandatory - at least 1 year.
- Prior experience in a fine dining or modern Asian restaurant setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills - fluency in English.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and a genuine desire to exceed guest expectations.
- A positive attitude, flexibility, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of proper food handling and safety protocols.
- Knowledge of proper wine service.
