THE OPPORTUNITY

Bimbadgen Estate, one of the Hunter Valley’s most iconic wineries, is seeking a talented Winemaker to lead our winemaking and distillery operations. This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic, premium brand and shape the future of our wine and beverage portfolio in one of Australia’s most renowned wine regions.
As the Winemaker, you will be principally responsible for the strategic planning and operational delivery of winemaking, distillation, and beverage production and distribution. This key leadership role is instrumental in enhancing the quality, innovation, and reputation of our products while delivering exceptional wine and beverage experiences that exceed customer expectations.
You will collaborate closely with hospitality teams, act as a brand ambassador, and drive product development initiatives aligned with Bimbadgen’s legacy and Mulpha’s long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Product Development
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Wine and Beverage Strategy in alignment with business goals.
- Monitor industry trends and customer preferences to drive innovation across wine, spirits, and other beverage lines.
- Work with the Regional GM to set financial targets and identify growth opportunities with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Winemaking, Distillation & Production
- Oversee all winemaking and distillery operations, including planning, production, blending, and quality control.
- Lead vineyard management activities and ensure product consistency and excellence.
- Manage relationships with distributors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless operations and product delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement in production processes to maintain brand integrity and support growth.
- Represent Bimbadgen as a Brand Ambassador through education, events, and media engagement.
Experience Delivery & Collaboration
- Collaborate with hospitality leaders to enhance wine and spirit experiences across cellar doors and events.
- Host client tastings, member events, and activations that drive customer engagement and retention.
- Provide regular training for staff to elevate knowledge and guest experience.
Leadership & Culture
- Inspire, develop, and empower the production team to achieve operational excellence.
- Support the broader leadership team in strengthening the Bimbadgen and Mulpha brands.
- Promote a positive workplace culture with a focus on high performance and professional growth.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all winemaking and distillation activities meet compliance, safety, and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate records and uphold company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in winemaking and/or distillation operations
- Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills
- Passion for product excellence and customer experience
- A collaborative, forward-thinking approach
- A business mindset with the ability to analyse results, identify opportunities, and drive measurable improvements.
- Knowledge of wine and a passion for sharing that knowledge with others.
